Cops on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the shocking caught-on-video attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl in a Brooklyn doctor’s office.

David Gonzalez, 31, of Sunset Park — who cops say fled the attack on a moped — was charged with attempted rape, forcible touching and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Cops conducting an extensive video canvass tracked his movements for nearly five miles, from the Midwood doctor’s office to a home in Crown Heights, where he was arrested about 2:05 a.m.

Gonzalez’s victim had arrived early to the Foster Ave. office for her mom’s appointment when he allegedly approached just before 1 p.m. on Sunday and exposed himself to her, police said.

The victim tried to run but Gonzalez grabbed her, covered her mouth and knocked her to the ground, authorities charge.

Surveillance video shows Gonzalez, wearing a knit hat and surgical mask, dragging the teen into the brightly-lit hallway on Foster Ave. near E. 3rd St. and pinning her down.

Police said the victim kept fighting him off until he eventually ran out of the building and escaped on a moped towards McDonald Ave.

The teen was not physically injured and her mom arrived a few minutes after the attack, sources said.

Cops charged Gonzalez . His arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending.

Gonzalez has an extensive criminal history with 19 arrests dating back to 2008. The arrests run the gamut from public lewdness to assault and robbery but there are no previous sex assaults on his record, cops said.

They couldn’t keep a lid on this story.

Almost 1 million Crock-Pots were recalled Tuesday because problems with the lids have led to at least 99 people getting burned.

The Crock-Pot multicookers, manufactured by Sunbeam Products, sometimes become pressurized when the lids are not securely locked, according to the recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

At that point, the lids detach, allowing food and liquid to fly into the air. There have been 119 reported incidents resulting in 99 people suffering between first- and third-degree burns, according to the commission.

The products were available at major retailers like Walmart, Target and Amazon from July 2017 to November 2020.

About 914,000 Crock-Pots in the U.S. and 28,000 in Canada were recalled, the exact details of which are included in the notice. The product safety board recommends that people simply avoid using the Crock-Pots’ pressure cooker mode until Sunbeam sends them a replacement lid.

Two NYPD domestic violence officers were shot and wounded in Queens Tuesday during a wild clash with a gun-toting CUNY peace officer, officials said.

One of the cops learned his wife was pregnant just hours before the gunfire erupted as he and his partner escorted a domestic violence victim back to her home on 179th St. near 145th Drive in Springfield Gardens about 12:45 p.m.

Sharon Goppy, 41, had shown up at the 105th Precinct stationhouse Tuesday morning and told cops her husband, Rondell Goppy, had choked her during an argument over infidelity the night before, officials said.

“It been going on for years, but she kept it from us,” Sharon Goppy’s sister Eulene Cameron, 45, told reporters after the shooting. “We’ve been trying to get her out of this house for a long time.”

The domestic violence officers escorted Sharon Goppy home, planning to arrest her husband but he wasn’t there, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said.

Six minutes later, as the officers waited for Sharon Goppy, who works as a post office supervisor, to collect some belongings so she could stay somewhere else, her husband returned.

“He just swaggers in and starts blasting,” a police source said.

It was not immediately clear if Rondell Goppy, also 41, happened to show up when cops were there or was lying in wait for his wife to return.

“The subject returned to the residence, walked in the door of the residence and began shooting at the two officers,” Shea said.

One of the cops, shot in the right leg, suffered a fractured femur and was bleeding heavily, officials said. A second officer was shot in each hand.

Despite being hit, the officers returned fire, hitting Rondell Goppy repeatedly, officials said. He died at the scene.

Sharon Goppy called 911 and called for backup as the bullets whizzed by, a source said.

Neighbors had no idea what had happened until a fleet of squad cars came speeding down the street.

“They started hitting cars and stuff like a real-life movie,” one witness, who wished not to be named, said of the arriving officers. “They almost hit me off my scooter.”

Responding officers put a tourniquet on one cop’s leg and took both he and the wounded partner to Jamaica Hospital, where they’re expected to recover, officials said.

The two officers were conscious and talking at the hospital but both will need surgery, sources said.

“They have serious injuries but ultimately they are going to be OK,” Mayor de Blasio said at a press conference at Jamaica Hospital. “There was such a feeling of relief among the families to know that.”

De Blasio said Sharon Goppy would have been killed if the cops weren’t there.

“Today they saved that woman’s life,” de Blasio said. “I want to be crystal clear — because those cops were there, that woman is alive.”

NYPD Domestic Violence officers, de Blasio added, are “doing the lord’s work.”

“They protect survivors of domestic violence,” he said. “They go into some of the most volatile and difficult situations you can possibly imagine.”

One of the wounded officers, identified by sources as Christopher Wells, is a 13-year NYPD veteran and has two children — a 3-year-old and a 3-month-old, sources said.

The other cop, Joseph Murphy, has five years with the department and has a 1-year-old child. He learned his wife was pregnant with their second child before his shift Tuesday, sources said.

Sharon Goppy’s sister and mother drove frantically from Philadelphia after hearing the news of the shooting. The family had long feared Rondell Goppy would act out in violence.

“He threatened her, he threatened me. He threatened to come to Philadelphia to shoot me,” Cameron, the sister, said. “Every day I couldn’t sleep.”

“She has to hide to talk to us,” Cameron added. “She go to work at night just to talk to us. Because he don’t want her to talk to her family.”

Cameron said the couple met in high school and have been married for 17 years.

“She wanted to stay with him because she didn’t want the kids to grow up without the father,” Cameron said. “She want the kids to have a father and a mother.”

She said her sister feared for her life “every day.”

“She called my mom this morning and said ‘He choked me, I can’t breathe.’ And she said, ‘go to the station and make a report,’” Cameron said.

Sharon Goppy took her 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son out of their remote learning classes and left them with neighbors before she bravely went to ask cops to intervene, the sister said.

“I can’t sleep,” Sharon Goppy’s mother told reporters through tears after the shooting. “I pray, I pray. God knows best.”

Cameron said Rondell Goppy also had three children from other relationships. Cameron said the son they shared would not speak to his father because of the way he treated his mother, which further enraged the father.

Neighbors confirmed the couple would often argue.

“There’s always a female and male arguing, maybe around 1 or 2 a.m.,” neighbor Chris Roberts said. The couple would scream at each other at the top of their lungs, he said.

“You can hear them walking back and forth (in the street), like arguing with each other,” Roberts, 25, recalled. “The woman is always screaming ‘Leave me!’ and the guy is always screaming ‘You can go!’ It’s hard to ignore it at night, because at night it’s very quiet.”

“Seems like a relationship conflict,” he added. “But I didn’t expect it to escalate to this.”

Rondell Goppy, who has a license to carry firearms, had two pistols on him when he opened fire on the officers, sources said. One of the weapons was found under his body as backup arrived.

A third gun was found inside the home.

There had been four domestic violence calls to the Queens home before Tuesday’s clash but no arrests have been made, officials said.

In July, cops removed three firearms from the home after receiving a report that Rondell Goppy was acting erratic. He had his guns returned to him in September, authorities said.

Sharon Goppy’s sister said the guns were removed because he was making threats against his wife.

“He threatened to kill her,” the sister said. “I was on the phone with her and he threatened to kill her. Said ‘I’m gonna kill you again, put you in a body bag.’”

An email to CUNY for comment was not immediately returned.

A source said Goopy was a trained marksman who often practiced with firearms and had trained with the NYPD.

A neighbor and friend of Rondell Goppy said they had been fighting in recent weeks about a possible divorce and custody of the kids.

“He said, “No one is going to take my kids,” the friend recalled. “No one was ever going to take my kids away.”

“She called the cops after he got his weapons back,” a neighbor said of the gunman’s wife. ”She just wanted him out.”

Tuesdays’ bloodshed was the first on-duty shooting of an NYPD cop in five months.
